Our next webinar is on the horizon. Next week, on Thursday 21 March, I'll be chairing an online session with four of just-drinks' regular commentators, where we'll be looking at the results of this year's confidence survey. The hour-long webinar is free, so get yourself registered today. Click here for full details.
Meanwhile, on just-drinks last week:
- Carlsberg got the ball rolling on Monday, when it announced that it is looking to take majority control of China's Chongqing Brewery. For further details on Chongqing the brewer and Chongqing the Chinese region, click here. And, head over here for a round-up of reaction to the move.
- In spirits, SPI prompted a swell of speculation, when it said it was mulling a move for Central European Distribution Corporation. Much as the prospect receded a little today, that didn't stop the likes of me suggesting that the troubles facing several vodka producers could be solved if they hooked up and formed MegaVod.
- If you're in wine, head here for Chris Losh's view on the prospects – and pitfalls – of heading east. Elsewhere, Canada was flagged as offering opportunities for growth, both for domestic wine producers and for exporters.
- Company results dominated the soft drinks headlines, with Coca-Cola Bottling Co Consolidated, Nichols and Jones Soda all posting full-year numbers last week.
